Who Is Our Family?
Matthew 12: 48-50 states “He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” In this texts Jesus draws a line between those who are his brothers and sisters and those who are not. This has nothing to do with our biological or physiological makeup. The line runs between those who are allied to God’s will and those who are not. Jesus was committed to walking in the will of God and nothing or no one could distract him. He considered the disciples to be his family because they labored with him. Like our Heavenly Father our family is the men and women who have locked arms with us, and are committed to seeing the will of God come to fruition in our lives.
